    for industrial environments Intelligent maintenance systems Electrical storage and thermal management Like further information Contact Management Ion Etxeberria TEIC Unit Director and Human Resources Director Other projects COOPER FOTOPROINT EMVeM More of this line of project SMART PV Share Smart photovoltaic generation with energy storage Participants Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya UPC IK4 IKERLAN Duration 2012 2014 MINECO N Exp ENE2011 29041 C02 02 PROGRAMME State administration Non targeted basic research projects This project involves research into fundamental aspects of operation and services that large sized smart PV plants with energy storage can offer the power network We study and analyze the most suitable power processing and distribution systems the most promising storage technologies and their supervision and management systems and the most adequate systems for distributed hierarchical control of these plants To validate the resulting proposals of analyses we use virtual prototypes and experimental pilot photovoltaic plant Our contribution IK4 IKERLAN will provide its knowledge and experience in the design and development of power converters and energy storage systems Our contribution will thus involve defining and developing storage systems adapted to PV applications and strategies for taking full advantage of them IK4 Ikerlan Organisation and team Results Infrastructures and equipment

    for industrial environments Intelligent maintenance systems Electrical storage and thermal management Like further information Contact Power Electronics Irma Villar Electromagnetism and Electrical Machines team leader Other projects COOPER EMVeM SMART PV More of this line of project Ice protection system for aircraft Share Based on electromagnetic induction technology Participants AIRBUS DS IK4 IKERLAN Duration 2014 2017 MINECO N expediente RTC 2014 2777 4 PROGRAMME State administration Retos Colaboración 2014 Induction heating is currently employed in various industrial applications due to its advantages in terms of efficiency rate of heating safety and very precise control These clear advantages can also be applied to the aviation sector The direct and rapid performance of inductive systems eliminates the formation of ice on very critical areas of an aircraft thereby utilising on board resources more effectively improving efficiency and reducing aircraft consumption This project aims at developing an ice protection system using electromagnetic induction in order to heat the leading edge of an aeroplane Our contribution A fully modular solution with uniform heat distribution that can differentiate between areas of continuous heating and areas of concentrated heating while overcoming issues regarding existing solutions that lack localised heating IK4 Ikerlan Organisation and team Results Infrastructures
