    thermal management system of an on shore wind turbine ALSTOM RENOVABLES Inspection system for liquefied gas tanks BAHÍA de BIZKAIA GAS Back up energy storage for telecommunications stations AMOPACK More of this type of project Combustion model for new fuels Share Evaluation of alternative liquid fuels CUSTOMER REPSOL SECTOR Energy We have developed a model for evaluating the combustion of three different samples of diesel fuel using a 30 kW boiler in order to predict the emissions that would be released into the atmosphere during the operation of the boiler using these fuels The results have been satisfactory therefore the models may be used to simulate different samples of diesel fuel Conducting the simulation avoids having to perform any experimental trials thereby saving time and money and it also eliminates the risk of accidents and emissions during the trials Challenges and results Simplifying the classification of a fuel mixture with hundreds of undetermined chemical species A model that combines multiple complex phenomena atomisation evaporation combustion heat transfer through convection and radiation formation of contaminants Identification of NOx and SO2 proportional to the N and S content of the fuel and identifying the need for any pretreatment of fuel or the
